The latest-generation Citroën C5 X has met with rave reviews, which is hardly a surprise; considering how competitively priced it is, it offers plenty of bang for your buck.
An engaging blend of SUV and estate car, the C5 X delivers a super-comfortable ride in its well-appointed cabin while offering class-competitive refinement. It boasts very distinctive looks too – and this practical family vehicle provides plenty of passenger and cargo capacity.
The new Citroën CX 5 is available in SensePlus, Shine and ShinePlus trim levels, and in petrol and plug-in hybrid PHEV form. PHEV variants are powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine, electric motor and battery combination, which produces 225bhp and 184Nm of torque. This allows the C5 X to go from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds while returning up to 236.2mpg and producing CO 2 emissions as low as 30g/km.
The car is well-specified as standard. For instance, it rides on minimum-size 19-inch alloy wheels and is fitted with a range of LEDs, including automatic High Beam Assist headlights, fog lamps and taillights.
Citroën C5 X PHEV
The CX 5 PHEV offers exactly the same passenger capacity as its petrol sibling, it can comfortably accommodate four full size adults or a young family of five. The inclusion of a rechargeable battery means it possesses a slightly smaller (485-litre) boot to it's petrol counterpart – and once rear seats are folded, a maximum 1,580-litre cargo volume is available.
